Tooth Extraction

At Oakleigh Dental Practice, we want to help you maintain your smile for a lifetime, but that is not always possible.

While our focus is on preventative and restorative care, there are times when a tooth may require extraction.

When a tooth is damaged due to injury, has an advanced pulp infection, is overcrowded, or you have an impacted wisdom tooth, extraction is necessary.

If enough of your tooth is visible above the gum line, your dentist will numb the area then loosen the tooth before pulling it out.

With a tooth embedded below the gum line, your dentist will make a tiny incision in the gums to remove the tooth safely and suture the area afterwards.
